Welcome to the Texas Health Occupations Association

THOA is excited that we can offer a virtual conference platform to Health Science teachers this Summer. We want you to know that we are adjusting our registration to reflect some agenda changes and the new fee structure for the virtual conference. This has taken some time while we work with our registration system to make the adjustments needed for a virtual conference.
Regina Jackson, our THOA Conference Coordinator, is revising the conference agenda that will be released by Wednesday of next week. Once these changes have gone live in our registration system you will notice the virtual conference price will have changed from $425 to $289. The conference now includes 3 workshops of your choice in addition to all general sessions. These have previously been called pre – conference sessions. These workshops will no longer be a separate cost with the exception of the New Teacher Training. The New Teacher Training will be an additional session and the cost is the same as previously listed, which is $150. Registrants will need to sign up in advance for workshops as supplies may be needed to get the maximum benefit. Teachers do not pre – register for the general sessions at this time. Instructions will be provided on how registrants choose their workshops once the new site goes live. The deadline for registration payment is Friday, July 3rd, 2020.
Again, it is best if you can wait and register with the revised platform. If your district needs to register now for budget purposes, then please go ahead and register on the original platform and expect a change in invoice when the conversion is complete.
Please know that there are changes coming to the THOA organization, including: a new website platform and new procedures for membership and liability insurance. Stay tuned for details as we grow and adjust to a new way of doing things.

I am writing this letter to express my and THOA’s support during this time of crisis. As a group of Health Science educators, our biggest strength is our diverse background of knowledge–our many hands make small work of the huge home-based instruction undertaking.
I appreciate all of the resource sharing you guys have been conducting, and I ask that you keep up the collaboration. Also, if you send your resources to email@example.com, we can keep our database up to date with all of your excellent recommendations. Please know that we are adding anyone who asks to join the resource drive as quickly as possible.
Please be smart out there and keep yourselves and your families distanced so that we can support our emergency response teams in flattening the curve. In the long term, we cannot predict what this situation will have on returning to our classrooms or even our Summer Conference, but we will keep you posted with any changes as they arise.
I would like to thank you again for your tireless hours in the classroom and out to support each other. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to a THOA Board Member with any questions.
